you knew me when 3rd Draft
To see the previous two drafts, head to this post. Still a work in progress but getting closer.
Melodies and morsels of tender love,
longing, and philosophies linger,
Fragments of past rhythms and lyrics
skim and tease beneath,
Supplanted and subverted by
marriage, and kids.
I barely noticed as
the heartbeat of creativity slowed,
daring its fragile pulse to cease.
Defiantly, I’m making my way back
to where my soul has always been.
Stripped of pretense and persona,
the props of the familiar are discarded
to make way for my voice.
