Change of Scenery

I usually write from my home office or on my deck. Today I decided to mix it up and went to a park not too far from my house. With the small waterfall and birds providing the perfect background music, I spread my blanket on the grass and pulled my writing notebook from my backpack.

I lay back and closed my eyes for a few minutes to let the thoughts that had been swirling around my brain for the past week sort themselves out. Then, I put my timer on for 90 minutes and started writing.

I picked a half shady spot so my legs were warmed by the sun while my face stayed cool. Once my pen touched the paper, it didn’t rest until the timer went off. It was the most productive writing session I’ve had in awhile. I think I’ll make this a weekly habit.

Where do you go to write when you need a change of scenery?
