Writing Journal Entry 30

Weekly post to keep me accountable for what I want to accomplish. Click to see all journal entries.

Accomplished 11 – 17 Jan 2020

New year, new plan. Or, rather, back to the old plan. When I decided to write full time almost a year ago, it was to record my ancestor’s stories so they could be enjoyed by my extended family, and passed down to future generations.

Then I started getting sidetracked with poems and short stories that had been bubbling beneath my subconscious for years. This past week I realized how far I’d strayed from my original writing plan. I’ve put aside all of my other ideas and am now focused full time on researching and writing my ancestor’s stories.

1. I’ve been adding more information to the Blessing Family story that I shared with the Fairfax Genealogical group in November. I went through all of the notes given to me and incorporated some into the story. I’ve also done more research and found a lot of great information. I’m excited to be working on this project again so hopefully won’t get distracted like before :).

2. I wrote one personal narrative about joining the Air Force. It’s not great, but it’s a start. I’m just going to keep writing them and use them as practice pieces.

Planned for Next Week

1. Work on my Blessing Family book.

2. Write one personal narrative post on this site as a writing practice piece.
