As I come across resources, books, podcasts, etc that I’m using in my own writing, I’ll post the link and brief description here. This is mainly so I can more easily go back to the sites I like, but hopefully it helps others, too.
Violeta’s Indie Helper Database – Free resource for the Indie Author. I love all of the resources she has!
One Stop for Writers – From their website, “One Stop houses a vast collection of reference materials that are intended to help writers improve their craft.” It’s true – I love their multi-dimensional thesauruses; character builders; story maps; timelines, and more! They offer a 2-week trial so you have plenty of time to use the tools and resources.
Creative NonFiction – information, classes, and books on writing creative nonfiction. They also accept submissions year round through their online process.
The Creative Penn – Resources for writing fiction and non-fiction, including marketing your book and making a living from writing. Also a place to find editors, book cover design, and book formatting.
Scribophile – Site for posting and critiquing all forms of writing. Free basic account and low-cost premium account.
The Write Practice – Great site for learning about writing and getting/giving critiques.
Daily Writing Tips Grammar Articles – over 400 articles explaining grammar rules.
Beltway Poetry – Quarterly literary journal, with a ~huge~ writer’s resource bank! We spotlight DC and Mid-Atlantic writers/events.
All Poetry – Place where you can post your poetry and have it critiqued. Good place to read many types of poems and learn more about the craft.
Poets & Writers – Their mission is “to foster the professional development of poets and writers.” They have writing contests, workshops, guides, and a magazine to help writers.
